The University of Dallas
The Catholic University for Independent Thinkers

The University of Dallas is one of the top Catholic institutions of higher learning in the United States. One of the most prestigious American college guides, The Fiske Guide to Colleges, describes the University as “without a doubt, the best Catholic-affiliated school south of Washington, D.C.” We excel in preparation for graduate schools, and for professional careers in teaching, law, and medicine, as well as for careers in many other fields.

Our undergraduate college, Constantin College, is the home of 1,200 students from 49 states and 19 foreign countries. They have chosen the University of Dallas for its academic rigor, its strong degree programs in 26 areas, and its dedication to the highest ideals of a Catholic education.

In addition, the University has two unique attributes:

  • Core Curriculum: Unlike other colleges and universities in the United States, the University of Dallas bases the first two years of learning on a Core Curriculum. This unique curriculum revolves around the in-depth study of works written by the greatest thinkers of ancient Greece and Rome and of modern Europe and America. The Core integrates history, politics, theology, science, art, literature, and philosophy courses, causing students to approach studies in their major fields at highly advanced levels, in comparison to other American universities.
  • The Rome Program: In addition to our campus in Texas, in America, we have a second campus in Rome, Italy, where over 80 percent of our students spend a semester, usually during their second year of study. This experience brings our Core studies to life and incorporates many opportunities for travel in Western and Eastern Europe.

Another well-regarded national publication, The Insider’s Guide to Colleges, says, “The core curriculum, paired with small classes and the Rome program, make the University of Dallas a small, Catholic liberal arts university that stands out from its peers.”

The University of Dallas prizes diversity of the mind. As such, we welcome students of all faiths and backgrounds from around the world who are bright and interested in intellectual exploration and spiritual growth.
