Central Michigan University (CMU) is a doctoral research university and is among the 100 largest public universities in the United States. CMU’s 480-acre campus is accommodating, friendly, and conveniently located in the heart of a classic American university town. Founded in 1892, CMU has grown into a dynamic university with over 21,000 students on its main campus in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. The University additionally offers programs online and operates a network of Learning Centers in more than 50 locations throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Students on campus may select from over 150 undergraduate programs. At the graduate level, CMU offers more than 70 master’s programs, 12 doctorates, 2 specialist degrees, and over 20 graduate certificates. Central Michigan University is comprised of eight colleges, each offering a variety of traditional and cutting-edge programs in demand by students and employers.
College of Business Administration
The College of Business Administration (CBA) offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs that are professionally accredited by AACSB International – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
Central Michigan University was one of the first to partner with SAP, and CMU’s premier graduate programs, including the MBA (with 10 concentrations) and MSIS, integrate SAP into the curriculum. Additionally, CBA runs a dynamic entrepreneurial center and works closely with large corporations and small businesses, providing highly valued, faculty led consulting services to real-world business partners.CMU is also highly respected for the MA in Economics, and graduates directly enter the marketplace or go on to prestigious doctoral degree programs throughout the United States.

College of Communication and Fine Arts
The College of Communication and Fine Arts (CCFA) houses five academic departments and schools and offers a large variety of undergraduate and graduate programs.
Central Michigan University operates the largest Public Broadcasting Network in the United States, covering wider geographical area than any other, and the CCFA operates television and radio stations that provide excellent opportunities for high-impact, hands-on learning.The university is highly renowned for its graduate degree programs in Broadcasting and Communication with alumni in prominent positions throughout the U.S., including news, sports, and entertainment industries.The School of Music, too, is an excellent option for students going into composition, conducting, music education, and performance.

College of Education and Human Services
From its origin as a teacher’s college in 1892, CMU has since become one of the premier teaching institutions in the country, filling the demand for highly qualified teachers within Michigan and throughout the U.S. The College of Education and Human Services (CEHS) is also appreciated for the extensive involvement of its many students in professional organizations at the local, state, and national levels.
In addition to Teacher Education and Professional Development and Educational Leadership, CEHS provides a variety of renowned graduate programs, including the cutting edge Apparel Product Development and Merchandising Design, the highly relevant Nutrition and Dietetics, the increasingly popular Human Development and Family Studies, the graduate certificate in Gerontology, and the clinically focused M.A. in Professional Counselling programs.

College of Graduate Studies
The College of Graduate Studies is the advocate for graduate education at CMU. With many student-focused services, graduate students at CMU feel especially welcomed and appreciated all the way from first contact through graduation and beyond.
The College of Graduate Studies also administers the Master of Science in Administration (MSA).The MSA is an interdisciplinary degree program in administration with many areas of concentration.It was initially designed for students who do not have an undergraduate degree in business but now want a graduate degree in administration, and it now accepts students from all academic backgrounds.
The MSA at CMU is a phenomenally successful program with more than 4,000 students enrolled each year.Most are off-campus students who enroll online or at one of over 50 CMU Global Campus centers which are located throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.It’s also the largest on-campus program, and students select from ten concentration areas, including Health Services Administration, Human Resources, Public Administration, and International Administration, plus Leadership, Sport Administration, and other concentration areas.
College of Health Professions
Students benefiting from state-of-the-art, technology-rich building that houses classrooms, laboratories, and innovative, interdisciplinary clinics, and from highly respected academic programs define CMU’s College of Health Professions (CHP). Internationally known faculty mentors welcome students into an energetic, challenging, and vibrant learning community.The student-oriented approach is evident in classroom learning, clinical experiences, internships, research, and community outreach opportunities.
At the graduate level, all programs are selective and attract top performing students with high GPAs, excellent letters of recommendation, and ample real-world experience.A primary objective for most CHP graduate programs is to enhance health promotions within central and northern Michigan, but elite, non-Michigan students may be granted admission.
Graduate programs include the Doctor of Audiology, the Doctor of Health Administration an entirely online/off-campus degree program), and the Doctor of Physical Therapy.Also included are the acclaimed Master of Arts in Speech Language Pathology, the Master of Science in Physician Assistant, the Master of Arts Physical Education, the newly revised Master of Arts in Exercise Science, and nationally prominent Master of Arts in Sport Administration.
CMU’s College of Health Professions is a state-of-the-art facility with high-tech, interactive classrooms, and is connected to CMU’s brand new College of Medicine.
College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences
The College of Humanities and Social and Behavioral Sciences (CHSBS) has eight academic departments and is the largest college at Central Michigan University. It has more than 250 faculty members including nationally known authors, historians, philosophers, psychologists and social scientists.
The College is home to many academically and professionally oriented centers and institutes, and many excellent research facilities, all of which provide students with excellent opportunities for additional education and to work with accomplished faculty mentors to gain valuable experience within their fields of study, such as The Center for Applied Research and Rural Studies, The Great Lakes Institute for Sustainable Systems, and The Brain Research and Integrative Neuroscience Center.
CHSBS offers numerous undergraduate programs and many graduate program opportunities for top-level students.
Several graduate degree options in English are available, including the widely renowned TESOLprogram, the MA in English Language and Literature, and the MA in Children’s and Young Adult Literature, plus the MA in Creative Writing and the MA in English: Composition and Communication.
Also available are the nationally renowned MA in Political Science and Masters in Public Administration (MPA), plus the MA in Spanish and the interdisciplinary MA in Humanities. CMU is known for its highly respected MA in History, its graduate certificates in History, and its internationally renowned Ph.D. in History program in comparative, transnational history with partner universities in Scotland, The Netherlands, Germany, and Mexico, which also requires study abroad for degree completion.
Additionally, CMU has a phenomenally successful Psychology department, with doctoral programs in Applied Experimental Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and School Psychology. Also available are the MA in Experimental Psychology, the MA in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and the Specialist in School Psychology.

College of Science and Technology
The College of Science and Technology (CST) has eight academic departments and offers 59 undergraduate and 12 graduate programs. These programs engage students in everything from researching mussel species in rivers to mapping a cloud forest in Peru, and from Teaching College Mathematics to the latest nuances in advanced Materials Science. Whichever programs students choose, they will use advanced equipment and work closely with respected faculty mentors committed to student-centered learning.
